What a mess is right. What was he doing so completely off message anyway? He needs to drop out now. So this can quickly be forgotten.
In all fairness to Akin, he wasn't off message. They were apparently discussing exceptions to a ban on abortion and the interviewer asked him if Akin supported an exception for rape. Akin obviously wanted to make the point that the tragedy of rape shouldn't be compounded by taking an innocent life but his mouth kind of got in the way while his brain was in standby mode.
