They are mad the waiter/waitress was filling their water glasses too often??? The service was too good, the service was too frequent????? Really????

One frequent complaint about restaurants is that the service isn’t always so good. I wonder if there is more to the story than too frequent attention by the waitstaff????

Yeah, I’ve never had my glass filled to often, too seldom yes, to often never.

Maybe the waitress made the mistake of smiling?

Usually I feel like calling the police to file a missing persons report for the waiter. What the hell is wrong with a person’s impulse control that they use violence to say, “no thank you. I don’t need water.”?

When I waited tables many years ago at a similar establishment I quickly noticed two things. One, people in the smoking section always tipped better and were nicer. And two, when waiting on a table of black customers the slower and more relaxed my service was the better the tip I'd get. It seemed strange but I eventually chalked it up to their wanting to take their time eating and that if I was too attentive they felt I was trying to hustle them out the door to make room for some white patrons. But if they had busted a glass against the back of my head ... well let's just say I knew where the kitchen chefs kept the really BIG knives.
