I find it aggravating that a single government agency is costing America billions of dollars every year by outlawing a common sense industry for downright stupid reasons.
This would be the DEA, banning commercial hemp agriculture.
To start with, hemp is ruinous to marijuana production, because it cross-pollinates with marijuana and strongly reduces the potency of its active ingredient. Marijuana producers try to avoid pollination at all, but when they do pollinate for seed, they want marijuana, not hemp, pollen.
Hemp grows about anywhere, marginal quality farmland not particularly good for other crops, needing minimal irrigation, fertilizer or pesticide.
Hemp makes superb, pH balanced paper that is far superior and lasts much longer than acid washed wood pulp paper.
And yes, better toilet paper. Less abrasive to the skin.
Hemp also makes a silk-like cloth that holds dye colors well, and can be used for many other textiles.
And hemp oil is a healthy, high-temperature cooking oil, and the leftover parts of the plant can be processed into good quality animal fodder.
great, I can see the kids hiding in the bathroom, smoking the toilet paper...
