If Ryan was at the top of the ticket, we would be kicking Obama’s behind. If we want to win, flip the ticket.
If Ryan was at the top of the ticket, there is no way he would have selected Romney as a running mate.
. . . unless of course, like Reagan's pick of GHWB, he thought it politically prudent to do so in order to win the election.

While I'll grant you that there are some equivalencies here, I think GHWB had a lot more to offer Reagan then Romney would have to offer someone like Ryan, if Romney had come in a close second in the primaries.

Two words come to mind - Romneycare and Massachusetts. Nuff said?
