Maybe not Michele specifically, but her caricature: reps who look for any excuse to oppose consensus legislation to play up how conservative they are (at least in his view) -- and birthers and Paulites and, well, probably a good chunk of FR (probably including me, depending on the issue). It was a candid and unwise description and not exactly a surprise considering Boehner is an establishemt conservative who has spent many years in the DC bubble.
What is was not was a statement that TARP opponents are knuckledraggers. He indicated in the article that even those who voted for it were opposed on principle but considered it a necessary evil.
They were all terrified and I understand that. Now it’s time to admit they made a mistake.
