The New Orleans police took off like scalded dogs during and after Katrina. That's a big city police department, isn't it? I don't recall the LAPD rushing in to quell the Rodney Simpson riots, that took Korean shop-owners and their employees. Even as far back as Watts, nobody was in any hurry to risk their lives suppressing insurrection. And you know the LAPD of that day was chock full of World War II and Korean War veterans who'd seen the elephant. Are a bunch of the Desert Storm/Iraq/Afghanistan veterans wearing blue or brown today? Sure, isolated incidents can be handled easily by paramilitary SWAT teams and the like (see Waco, Ruby Ridge, etc.) but wholesale, full-scale rebellion? There aren't enough police and military in the whole wide world to suppress even 10 million armed civilians, many of them veterans, hunters, fishermen, shooting sports enthusiasts, security guards, outdoorsman and/or a combination of those, much less 50 or 100 million. Just the DEER HUNTERS in this country would constitute the largest standing army in the world, by a factor of 5 or more. Think about it: 25 million armed men & women, most of whom have high-powered rifles with scopes, camouflage gear, ATVs, camps, knowledge of their locale and wood sense.

What Good Can a Handgun Do Against An Army?

From what I have seen through my life a good portion of cops are cowards. They pull in fat paychecks and talk tough when they know they have the upper hand.

SWAT and forced entry teams are full of themselves when they can break down doors of citizens in the dark of night, shoot the family dog and then tie up the women and children.

They will run like the true cowards they are when they find out a pissed off citizenry has them surrounded and are picking them off from every angle. Body armor or not, an inner thigh shot with even a bolt action rifle will ruin their day and multiply that by a couple dozen or more free citizens those bolt action rifles will convince them who really owns this Country, and it won’t be them.

Notice that none of the Katrina confiscations ended in a hail or pool of anything. Those who complied did so - under threat, not under consequence. Those who said "no" and meant it were left alone - tense moments I'm sure, but they gave up nothing and nothing was taken. Yes, there is one famous video of a little old lady getting jumped; that was an anomaly involving a gang of able thugs waiting out and taking advantage of the faltering elderly. There are also videos of private security being left alone, their ready ARs saying "no" much better than an unsure .38.

The confiscations came to an abrupt halt when fellow officers behind the scenes made clear badness would follow if the grabbing continued.

Probably ninety percent of SWAT are just poorly selected and trained SEALS wannabees. The can’t even find the right house. They panic if under fire.

They are tough stuff against collies and jack russells, and suprised people in their beds. But LEOs have made a religion out of making it home. So how well do you think they’d fair against a large and increasingly organized opponent?
