A box of ammo a month spent at the range should be sufficient to insure most of those who come to collect my guns ... will leave in a body bag.

First, you need to learn how to shoot correctly.

Second, you only need to go to the range to sight your guns in.

Third, learning how to care for your guns and shoot accurately is like riding a bike or swimming.....you never forget. You will always instantly know how to do it and it will come naturally.

However, going to the range to get some target practice is fun!

Practice, practice, practice. You fight like you exercise.
You obviously have no military experience.
As you age, some things get more difficult, such as a steady aim, and a rapid draw.
Being accurate is a practiced skill, and accuracy is more important than speed (just as long as you aren't too slow about it).
Then there's reloading practice, and practice builds confidence.
No, it doesn't come naturally. It's a learned and practiced skill.
