Always wondered if this guy Hasan was a tortured homosexual and that is the real reason his trial is being delayed. This is a thirty five year old Muslim man who claimed he never married because he could never find a wife sufficiently devout. However he comes from a background where open homosexuality is simply not tolerated. As a troubled teenager he probably joined ROTC hoping a manly military experience might help him. Becoming a psychiatrist and a more devout Muslim was probably more futile coping. Always wondered just what army investigators found on his computer and apartment. Obama may have very good political reasons to delay an open rial.

As with Cho, the VPI shooter, Hassan’s family thought he was strange and an outsider. They operate convenience stores in Northern VA and appear interested mostly in getting ahead. Both of these people were a sort of misfit in their upwardly mobile fairly assimilated immigrant families. For Cho there was just rage and insanity for Hassan there was the siren call of violent Wahhabism. Similar to the man who led the 9-11 strike. Another misfit and under performer in his upper class Egyptian family. These are examples of the ‘marginal man’ who is one of the most dangerous of outsiders because of his propensity to act out his dysfunction as violence. The Sikh temple shooter looks to be one of this type. Unfortunately Islam creates a great many of these characters as it is a system that routinely marginalizes a substantial percentage of its young men.
