Kim Caught Fiddling as Rome Burns

Ri Sol Joo has caught the attention of the international community with her shows of public affection for husband Kim Jong Eun but, contrary to the aim, this is eliciting a negative response from some sections of the North Korean public.

A source from Hyesan in Yangkang Province told Daily NK today, “Recently, a documentary film ‘Marshal Kim Jong Eun’s Guidance in All Areas of the People’s Economy’ has been on Chosun Central TV every day. The film shows scenes praising Kim Jong Eun’s achievements over the past six months, and in showing the Moran Hill Orchestra performance and Rungra People’s Resort opening it includes footage of him and his wife.”

However, “The nation’s people are suffering and dying due to the severe drought in May and recent rainy season floods, but the supreme leader is playing childishly at an amusement park, arm in arm with some woman or other. The people find it pretty wrong.”

She continued, “Things are really tough, and people deplore the way we are meant to trust some little guy whose actions are so unfit for a leader.”

At the same time, the appearance of Ri Sol Joo, who has no relation to the tasks of the Party whatsoever, is creating further negativity, a second source added.

The Chongjin-based source explained, “In the past when Kim Il Sung’s wife Kim Sung Ae accompanied him on his guidance visits, the people considered it natural because she was the Vice-chair of the Union of Democratic Women, but Ri Sol Joo is just ‘his woman’.”

The source added, however, “Kim Jong Eun’s behavior does not fit the reality for the people. It is like dancing happily at a funeral.”

A latest report says that Chia Junior and his sister Yeojong(who also attended a school in Switzerland,) hit it off and staged the recent photo-op’s, him showing up with his wife, Ri Sol Joo, amusement park ride, and the Disney concert. It managed to catch attention of international media. On the other hand, it did definitely have Marie Antoinette flavor. No wonder resentment is building.

South Korean anti-DPRK propaganda balloon and mini leaflets/small portable radios time again for North Korea. Are the northward winds acting up and it is a good time to launch?

Let me see this fat little f**k last one day in boot camp or in American corporate culture. His candy-assed little head would explode.

Probably have to consider effects of typhoons, which come these days. Lately, NK propaganda is acting weird. It ratchets up belligerent rhetoric, to the point that they spell out coordinates of targets they strike(some of coordinates were even wrong by the way,) or SK activists they want to kill, putting themselves into a position they cannot back out of without a major embarrassment or a major confrontation. NK regime is not working properly. They do lots of contradictory things in all direction. I don't see any coherent logic behind the activities. It appears to me that they run out of any well laid-out plan and are shooting in all directions hoping one of them will hit something.

Too many rides on the tilt-a-whirl and stuffing his face with cotton candy is not healthy for the Nork Fatboy.

According to the esteemed and 'truthful' North Korean press, his Dad scored 11 holes-in-one in his first ever round of golf. I encourage the Fatboy to hit the links and beat that record and also show Obama how the game is really played.

If I hazard a guess, Jong-eun's next stunt is to do his own music video a la "Oppan Gangnam Style," a S. Korean music video that went viral on Internet. PSY, the singer in the video, and Jong-eun has similar appearance. Not sure he can endure grueling dance routine, though.

Watch PSY's original video here:

Compare and contrast with this 60 year-old politician.

And that's not for show. Dude really is a high-level Judo master. I remember Frankie Goes To Hollywood's "Two Tribes" video with Reagan and Chernenko fighting. I wouldn't want anything to be decided by a similar match today.

PSY reminds me of a young version of my old man.

I got a huge kick out of that video!

Thanks for the judo-politician photo. Koreans are tough. Even the old guys can be dangerous, especially when their weapon isn't just bare hands.

If South Korea had a Second Amendment we wouldn't have a North Korea problem anymore, and we might not have a China problem, either.

On the other hand, we might have to be defending Japan against South Korean aggression... and I'm not sure, given South Korean history, that I'm being sarcastic about what encouraging South Korean civilian gun ownership would have accomplished if it had started in the 1950s. I'm well aware of President Syngman Rhee's threat to attack Japanese troops if they landed on South Korean soil to defend South Korea during the Korean War.

Sooner or later the Korean peninsula will be reunified. Given East German history, it will consume massive amounts of South Korean funds, and probably cause trouble for China as well. The one good thing is that as the United States seems increasingly unwilling to do its job and Japan is losing its battle against demographics, a unified Korea may end up being capable of picking up the slack in Asia caused by American abdication of its responsibilities and preventing a wholesale Chinese takeover of the entire region.
