It does raise a goosebump, but I liked it better when they wore suits and ties and chain smoked!
It’s quite exciting and inspirational for some. A successful landing is a major accomplishment. The United States remains the only country to have done so. Having said that, other Mars landings were equally exciting and inspirational, especially using the bouncing ball technique. However, the excitement is soon forgotten, and one has to wonder if the repeated Mars rovers are the best way to spend money for unmanned exploration.

Waste of money.
It would be quite the stirring discovery, if they can actually find definitive proof of life once existing on mars. Not just the chemical composition suggestion of it, or those micro-fossils which are so vague that they could be practically anything. I mean, an actual fossilized appendage of some life form, or a small fossilized insect. Now that would be very interesting and thought provoking.
If you’ve got a Mars lander—you didn’t build that.
