More likely middle class lack of interest in last year's wigged-out left-wing weenies' idiocy, and disgust at their implicitly encouraging nut cases to set themselves on fire.

If Israel is anything like here, social justice is only a code phrase for communism anyway!

Tel Aviv residents like most Israelis do not understand that their problem does not lie with "capitalism." Their problem lies with oligarchy.
Perhaps eleven families control all commerce, imp/exp trade and media in Israel. Open markets, rather than being the "enemy," are precisely what Israel needs most.
It is not uncommon to meet an Israeli with an advanced degree of one kind or another spout off about how the "government" should control (for instance) the price of cottage cheese. Collusion got them here and in Plato's Cave they believe that more of the same will get them out.
Classic syndrome, in this case applied to an otherise brilliant population.

The small crowd is evidence of the despair the middle class feels over the governments weak, ingratiating policy,
Would the government having a strong ingratiating
policy cure the dispair?
