Nazis should feel unwelcome. As should jew hating Palestinian judo teams that refused to share a padded warm up mat with Israelis. They forced the olympics to put up a wall so they could not see jews.
And i’d also vote to keep north Koreans out while they have active death camps.
The Olympics are sick if they expect us to forget about such evil in the name of a track meet. If someone wants to be there, they need to ascribe to the ideal. The IOC should not be expected to tolerate a Nazi, or a muslim racist. If you have those feelings as an athlete, you need to accomodate civilized society, WE should not have to bend to make nazis and moslems feel like their opinion is just another legitimate viewpoint.
It is extremely hypocritical that atheletes should be kicked out for belonging to fringe extremist groups whilst athletes from the likes of North Korea and Iran are tolerated.
BUT, the Olympics is supposed to be apolitical, that means that even if someone is a racist d-wad, it shouldn’t matter as long as they don’t try to bring their politics into the Arena.
I don't know the status of the judo teams.
The German (I don't know whether she is a full fledged Nazi, just that she apparently has ties to Nazi organizations), though, did NOT reportedly spew any hateful language or political speech (like you said the Palestinians judo teams did)...but she was forced to leave.
Should her private associations and thoughts (assuming she hasn't committed a crime) be able to disqualify her from playing?
If so, how far do we go with this standard?
