President Obama takes the offensive by presenting Mitt Romneys tax-cutting plan as something that will actually raise taxes on the middle class so the wealthy can pay less. Seizing on a new study, Mr. Obama is trying to convince voters that his opponent will do exactly what he says he will not.
THE SCRIPT A male narrator says: You work hard. Stretch every penny. But chances are you pay a higher tax rate than him. Mitt Romney made $20 million in 2010 but paid only 14 percent in taxes, probably less than you. Now he has a plan that would give millionaires another tax break, and raises taxes on middle-class families by up to $2,000 a year. Mitt Romneys middle-class tax increase: He pays less. You pay more.
ON THE SCREEN Images of families paying bills are juxtaposed with photos of Mitt Romney, including a picture of him with Donald J. Trumps plane in the background. Superimposed on the images are various numbers making the point of the ad.

BOTTOM LINE Mr. Obama is trying to turn the tax argument around. The Supreme Court recently upheld his health care law by defining its penalty for not buying insurance as a tax, and he has supported letting tax rates rise back to their level in the 1990s on income over $250,000. With this ad, he paints his opponent as a tax increaser and skewers him for seemingly favoring the rich over the middle class.

Obozo is such a moron. All he has to do is demonstrate that Mittens is just like him, a pathological liar who supports the lefty agenda, except he’s white and Mormon (instead of black and Muslim). Mittens support would collapse within minutes, and the election will be determined by Zombie votes as millions of Americans stay home, except for the patriotic dead.
Tax raiser??? Wow, talk about the pot calling the kettle... uh... black.
I’m amazed that a serious Independent run for ‘12 POTUS by a very conservative individual didn’t materialize, knowing that it would help Barack Obama get re-elected.
I have long been unhappy about the long-standing role of Republicans serving as the tax collectors for the welfare state. It’s a pattern. 4 or 8 years of DimmocRATs spending money that they don’t have, followed by 4 or 8 years of Republicans arguing that we need to pay these bills.
We need to stop the d@mn spending. Period.
When I listen to Obama speak about numbers I really get a strong sense that he doesn’t feel comfortable with numbers. He may be vulnerable to getting tripped up in a debate by looking like a lightweight in math and number concepts. Does anyone else hear this unease when he is talking about numbers? Lots of stumbling verbally and hesitancy.

You can’t coach stupid. They either have it or not. They (Obama and campaign) have it in spades.
Did Romney commit a crime? Did he cheat? Or did he just use the same tax system that all the liberals use? This is not an indictment of Romney but one of our overly complicated ovwerly bloated IRS and tax system.
I never heard anyone talk about rasing taxes but Obama
Does this New York Times article fail to mention that this bogus "study" made-up assumptions out of whole cloth? For instance the "study" claimed that the millionaire tax cut the NYT rails against had to be paid for by raising taxes by doing things like getting rid of mortgage deductions. Even though nobody has ever proposed eliminating mortgage deductions as part of this plan.
This "study" was a complete hit job paid for by the Democrat Party.
