Adam Smith, former CFO and treasurer of medical supplies manufacturer Vante, riled people up today when he put up a video of himself bullying a Chick-fil-A drive-thru employee in Tucson on YouTube.
Smith unsympathetically berates the worker in the video, which was initially titled ”Reduce $’s to Chick-Fil-A’s Hate Groups.” It has since been taken down (though other have uploaded it too).
”I’m a nice guy, by the way … totally heterosexual," he says to the worker. "Not a gay in me, I just can’t stand the hate.”
Smith has now been fired from his job at Vante. Here's the press release from Vante announcing that Smith is "no longer an employee of our company," effective immediately:

I don’t know that he violated any laws - except common sense.
He is, well now was, an officer of the company. He went to someone else’s business and berated an employee. He filmed it. He publicly embarrassed his company by posting it on the internet and doing public relations damage. If it were his own company, it would be different and would be a free speech issue. He had his free speech and 15 minutes of fame (or being a total a-hole). By potentially harming his company, he got what he deserved.
Every now and then a story that gives you hope comes along, this is such a story. The Marxists and Nazis have picked Chic Fil A as the battle ground so we all better remember to keep supporting Chic Fil A. One good day is just that, one good day, this war will not be settled in a day.
I just did another Hitler video about him ranting about Ahmadinejad endorsing Obama before he could do it. They had a deal and the twirp stabbed him in the back.
Smith would make a good Hitler rant but he was already fired so I don’t know if it would be a good one.

And the CEO of Vante did the right thing by canning the CFO.

There's a higher standard expected of such people who act as the professional face of the organization.
Bullying a lowly fast food worker, and posting it online, does NOT reflect well on his employer and he damned well knew it.
Exactly. When he signed on, he may even have had an employment agreement allowing them to fire him if he brought disrepute on the company. Seriously, he’s the CFO of an entity? He’s painfully immature and inarticulate.
His behavior could easily affect the company's pocketbook and when you have a high profile position your action do reflect on your employers when done in the manner in which it was done.
I would have fired him as well!
The guy was being a douche, up until he asks the girl How can she live with herself by working for this company. It then became bullying, which is not cool in any circles. Company must have gotten a ton of responses, mine being one, about this and kudos to them for getting rid of this waste asap.
