I’m not familiar with the Texas districts.
Was it just Williams money, or does the district “swing more moderate than Conservative”.
Just curious.
I don't know what happened. I'm still trying to figure it out. The district runs from just north of Austin up thru Killeen/Ft Hood to just south of Ft Worth. It's all mostly rural, pretty conservative.
I had Cruz/Riddle and Dewhurst/Williams aligned politically so figured that Riddle would get coattails from Cruz. But Dewhurst did surprisingly well in the district and Williams got 58%(!).
In perusing Williams twitter it seems that, for his supporters, economic considerations were the overwhelming issue rather than unconstitutional overreach of gov't. I see the economic problems as a symptom and the out of control gov't as the cause but Williams voters seem to think a business man is what's needed.
Williams will be ok, just not the Constitutional champion that Riddle would have been.
I blame Harry Potter. Obviously, any candidate named Riddle is probably Voldemort...
“Is Riddle an actual constitutional conservative, or is he a Paulite?”
He’s something of a Paulite, and supported by those types of supporters.
Roger Williams is a conservative, and had a lot more money.
