This also moves needing to strike a deal to when hopefully the GOP will have control of the WH, Senate and House. Lowers the amount of damage Obama and Reid can do during a lame duck session.

ALL gubmint programs need cutting. ALL have pork.

cutting 55 billion from the 500 billion (not counting Pentagon warfighting )over 10 years isn’t ‘draconian’. Plenty of businesses have had to cut more than 7-10% lately.

Cutting “the other guy’s” favorite stuff and not your own isn’t working.
