I did find it interesting that you tried to change the subject, right away.

Blow me.

You are a little touchy. it's you, Engels and Marx that are lockstep in favor of Free Trade. LOL.

Nah, I just remember when people who were, ahem, “less than versed” on the subject would engage in a frantic Google search to back up their position. But back in the day, they would admit that they did it.

RE: "China manufacturing really 50 times greater than U.S."

You reminded me of hedonics. I was looking for an excuse. . .

Hedonics a way of assigning a monetary value to improvements and adding that dollar-value to the GDP instead of using the nominal dollar amount. This makes sense vis-a-vis technology because its value explodes while simultaneously its cost gets cheaper. So less is spent for lots more production.

"so China manufacturing really 50 times greater than U.S."

I am not sure that hedonics apply because where's the productivity improvements? We're just talking exchange rates here. Aren't we?

However in this pdf file is an explanation by someone who knows what I tried to described;

to wit, "the speed and capacity of computers increases very rapidly – currently, computer quality is increasing about 13 percent per year. Computer quality generates increases in real output. If a production system is computerized and computer quality is increasing, then each time a new computer is added, or replaces an obsolete one, the system can produce more. This is conceptually true for nearly any kind of production system – for instance, processing of retail transactions, airline reservations, electronic banking, or computer control of automated production lines in manufacturing.

"If these quality improvements are not measured as part of computer output, then real computer output will be understated. For instance, in 2000, nominal investments in computers rose by $19.8 billion dollars, an increase of 20.8 percent. However, the real value of computer investment rose by $86.4 billion. The real rate of change was 39.7 percent, nearly twice as large as the nominal rate of change of 20.8 percent."

I posted that because I knew you had very little understanding of what China is doing, their currency manipulation is complicated. I will give you time to digest the information provided. If you have any questions let me know.

We live in a remarkable political moment: precarious, yet potentially transforming. At the Campaign for America’s Future, our daily work is to bring about the progressive transformation.

After three decades of conservative dominance in American politics, we Americans are threatened with economic disintegration, environmental devastation and international isolation.

The list of failure is simply exhausting: a disastrous Iraq occupation, a destabilized Middle East and Asia, the persistent threat of terrorism, a menacing climate crisis, an insecure and dwindling energy supply, unprecedented trade deficits, unchecked global corporate power, our broken health care system, a weakened pension system and an increasingly inaccessible higher education system.

But out of the ashes of this era of conservative failure comes an historic opportunity for progressives to salvage the American Ideal and shape this young century.

That’s where we come in.

Don't ask me for the link, ask the guy from Virginia.

When did I try to change the subject? I addressed everything you said. I think you are getting your threads mixed up.
I think you do a pretty good job of advocating the free-trade point of view when you are not trying to live up to your screen name (LOL), but I kind of view it as defending the indefensible. The ideas you advocate have been ascendant for some time now. Most of our political class, on both sides of the aisle, endorse your point of view. Are we better off for it? I think not. The traditional approach to trade, one based on bilateral trade agreements and the principle of America first trumps the current mode of selling our enemies the rope that they will to hang us.

China is doing many things to destroy America and our American dream. China practices massive currency manipulation but that is just one of many things China does to wage war and against Americans and to destroy America. This article is just one more example of how china is destroying what remains of U.S. manufacturing and so destroying is the U.S.A. . Every American should read this article:

WASHINGTON – Steel wheels, nails and bedsprings made in Missouri are on the list. So are pipes, paintbrushes and coat hangers from Illinois. Not to mention a host of other products, from Silicon Valley electronics to Detroit auto parts.

If it seems that the Chinese are throwing cheaper versions of everything but the kitchen sink at U.S. markets, think again. This month, an Illinois kitchen-sink manufacturer — the Elkay Cos. — asked Washington to slap an “anti-dumping” tariff on Chinese steel sinks.

Whether the product is sinks or steel wheels, the complaints by U.S. manufacturers allege that China unfairly subsidizes the plants that make such products, allowing exporters to sell them in this country at less than fair market value.

In the most recent Missouri case, executives of Hayes Lemmerz — an international steel wheels manufacturer that employs more than 300 people at its plant in Sedalia — asked the U.S. International Trade Commission on March 8 to order punitive duties against Chinese imports that they contend unfairly undercut their prices.

“Don’t let dumped Chinese wheels shut down these plants and cost these good, hardworking Americans their jobs,” said Donald Hampton Jr., who supervises the steel-wheel plants in Sedalia and Akron, Ohio.

U.S. manufacturing jobs have declined by 36% in the last decade and that is because of trade with other countries. millions of Americans have lost their jobs because of that. We have to stop China now.

China has been destroying the U.S.A. China has caused untold misery, unemployment, homelessness and killed many Americans by denying them a chance to make a living.

So by your logic we have to allow china to do anything to the U.S.A. and Americans individuals or American companies as long as they call it “trade” or economics.NO we need the military for stopping China from invading the U.S. with troops . likewise we need to stop China's economic war against the U.S.A and from what China is doing to Americans. We need the government to protect Americans against armies, against China, against immigrants, against anything foreign. By your logic then we have to allow U.S companies to import an unlimited number of immigrants also( are you for that too?)Yes we need to limit government inside the border but we need a border and to protect that border against immigrants , china , the UN, WTO, .We need a fortress America .We must be for America first and let China go to hell! I declare war against China.I am ready to give it all up and to fight in a war against China . I would enlist right away. I only hope war breaks out as China is buying up the U.S.A and the world without firing a shot.I would rather die figthing China than to live as their slave. I want war and I want vengeance against China. Pass this article on to all you know.

The system we had prior to say 1970; the way we manufactured, the way we traded produced a super power the likes the world has ever seen. Now look at us. And if you dane question the status quo, even on Free Republic, fascist like 1rudebutt and todds-a-chinese-patriot cannot stand it. They cannot acknowledge that any price has been paid for this foolishness. It has all been good. Right. I wasn't born yesterday. The problem is people born after 1970 think THIS SITUATION IS NORMAL. And even worse sustainable.

Don't let these two boobs fool you. THEY DON"T CARE ONE WIT ABOUT US MANUFACTURING JOBS. They would sell the children into slavery if their was a profit in it. They are secretly upset that EVERYTHING isn't manufactured by the coolie slaves of the PRC.

Thanks. I looked and looked and saw no proof for this claim: "By the amount that Chin has undervalued their currency so that a China worker makes 50 cents per hour so their production is really 50 times what it says in dollars"

Try again?

Wow, they just devalued by 60%? A minute ago you said they paid 50 cents an hour. Their manipulation is worse than I thought.
