A possible caveat to Sean Trendes piece yesterday arguing that attack ads cant hurt Obama because voters already know him so well: What if the ad showcases something hes said recently that appears to reveal his true economic beliefs? Theres virtually no new, relevant information about him available except his gaffes, as new windows onto his thinking. Youve got two bruising spots here that play on that, one from Team Mitt picking up on his claim that our plan worked and the other from the American Future Fund targeting the you didnt build that line thats got Obama hyperventilating. They strike me as attacks not so much on his economic perspicacity (although theyre that too) as attacks on his character. The vibe from both spots is indignation at his refusal to recognize the economic reality that Americans live with. He comes off, more than anything, as callous, not merely naive. Tough stuff. No wonder hes doing those gauzy West Wing fireside chat ads now....

“O” began his ‘Presidency’ as a guy Americans didn’t trust.
Now, he’ not only a guy that we DON’T trust, but one we don’t RESPECT either!!
The “O” administration is a 4 year dead letter in the history of America!
We have to focus NOW on recovering.
It worked is just brutal in its simplicity.
Obama’s words.
Americans testimonials.
MSM backup.
From Obama’s perspective, he “didn’t build that”.
He has never had to do any work in his life. He has had great teachers in the form of terrorists, Communists, Marxists, Muslims, radical feminists, and anti-Americans build what he got. He has had unions, greedy green companies with unviable products, and corrupt Chicago thugs, and document forgers build the infrastructure he rode on.
They need to hold onto these ads and replay them numerous times beginning about October 15th. (No sense in “overkill”.) With the right amount of airplay, these two ads will finish sinking Obama.
Thanks so much for the Post. Are these internet ads or are they playing on TV in the battleground States?
people need to keep hammering him.
the more he tries to defend that comment - the worse he looks.
Fantastic.
Those ads are deadly...if Romney and the anti-Obama forces keep this up, Obama won’t stand a chance!
“A possible caveat to Sean Trendes piece yesterday arguing that attack ads cant hurt Obama because voters already know him so well”
That assumption is ridiculous; people still know very little about him, and what they are getting to know is all bad for him.

This is from Romney? I thought he was a wuss like McLame and was running a wuss campaign...
“It worked”...
Man... I’d RUN with this.
One has to ask, is THIS what you INTENDED, Mr 0bama?
I guess Obama will now say that the helpless cradle to grave government-dependent dolt "Julia" was taken out of context.
As a business owner, it absolutely astounds me that people had to hear Obama say these words to understand what he really stands for. The actions of this administration, from starving the country of energy production, to attempting to control banking through legislation, to tax and regulatory assaults on business, all have given me enough evidence to conclude he has always abhorred capitalism.
For that matter, it’s not just him, the whole Democratic party has harbored a grudge against the successful, going back to the Clinton administration.
I have felt like the declared enemy of the state for twenty years.
I think his Roanoke speech is indeed a turning point, but only because the words combine with the consequences of his actions such that people can all of a sudden see how wrong his thinking is.
We, you as a current business owner, me as a previous business owner, can easily understand nobama's hatred of small businesses because we've lived with the consequences each day. However, the average American cannot as they have no frame of reference.
But now they do. nobama himself laid it out very clearly for everyone. Business people are saying, "NOW do you see what we've been complaining about for the last three years?" And people who don't own a business are saying, "WOW! Now I understand. This is awful."
Absolutely perfect!
nobama, I wish for you many more soul-revealing statements like these.
