I’m not familiar with the entirety of the conflict, but a Facebook friend posted that the head of Chick-fil-a was advocating “killing” gay people.

Anyone know anything about that? Seemed hyperbolic.

That said ... this seems a scary precedent. Maybe it’s not a precedent ... but allowing only government approved businesses to have permits seems very totalitarian.

No, on the contrary, the President of Chick-Fil-A said only that he supports traditional marriage, and that the business treats its customers with equal respect, barring none.

The gossip and rumor mill is obviously intent on fanning the flames. Hyperbole and then some!

Yes, I believe it is a very scary precedent. The letter from the Boston Mayor is chilling in my opinion. How would the pro-gay set like to receive such a letter? They would cry bloody murder.

Yes he said that. He really said that. It's true. Why would you even question that he said that?

To make the granting of a business license or a zoning variance be conditional on the politics of the business owner would seem to be a violation of the Equal Protection clause of the 14th Amendment:

No State shall make or enforce any law which shall abridge the privileges or immunities of citizens of the United States; nor shall any State deprive any person of life, liberty, or property, without due process of law; nor deny to any person within its jurisdiction the equal protection of the laws.
Imagine the uproar if a Republican mayor denied a license to a Leftist-owned business because they supported a gun-control group.

Seems? It is the essence of totalitarianism - agree with the State or suffer. It's one stop short of re-education camps and gulags.
