Call me crazy, but ...

I have a disorder affecting the largest nerve of the brain. It is a fairly rare, extremely painful condition. Very high doses of morphine is the same as taking baby aspirin once a flare sets in. It takes high doses of a mixture of drugs to get the flare down. I will cease to exist without the correct meds every day and there are very few doctors even aware of the disorder. At one ER, out of state and away from home, I was told flat-out by the attending physician that “[it] does not exist in the hospital’s database so I can’t help you.” I would’ve been pushed out the door untreated had it not been for the kindness of a nurse who took my note (I can’t speak during flares) and looked up the disorder on the Internet. She gave the info to the doctor who finally took the time to read about it and did, eventually, get the flare down.

Now I am so afraid that the only doctor who’s ever successfully treated me is going to retire due to Obama’s amazingly idiotic plan.

Here comes the “call me crazy” bit. Lately, I’ve been eyeing veterinarian’s offices to see which one looks like a good place to go if need be. And I ain’t jokin’. :-)

May God help us all.

I’d recommend before he quits/retires you beg your doctor to prepare an explanation of your condition and treatment regimen.

You can load onto a zip drive and wear it around your neck, or load the files into your smartphone.
