The Aurora cops did a commendable job in this situation. I’ve listened to the scanner audio with timecode and they were on the scene very quickly, caught the guy and were in the auditorium in minutes.
They clearly learned the lessons of Columbine and it paid off in a surprisingly low number of fatalities given the weapons and the number of victims. The quick aid rendered to the victims was crucial to the high survival rate.
If it was the audio Daily Mail made available, it was “scoped”, with the parts between transmissions removed. Nevertheless, all the responding agencies did an excellent job.
