Mark Dayton: Minnesota Vikings' arrests linked to excess of 'idle time'
St. Paul Pioneer Press ^ | July 18, 2012 | Brian Murphy

Posted on 07/18/2012 6:55:14 AM PDT by ConservativeStatement

"Idle time is the devil's play," said Dayton, describing the NFL's six-month offseason. "It means that young males who are heavily armored and heavily psyched as necessary to carry out their job are probably more susceptible to being in bars at 2 o'clock (in the morning) and having problems. It doesn't excuse it. It just says this probably comes with it."

These quotes had everything but "the need for midnight basketball" and "misguided yoots." Civilized war?

Then perhaps Governor Fauntleroy shouldn’t have shoved a billion-dollar taxpayer funded stadium for them down our throats. With far too much help from Republican majorities in both houses of the Legislature.

Isn’t it about time for this loon to lock himself in and start making vague references to alien invasions? Who writes this stuff for him? or is he just as crazy as he’s always been? Rhetorical question.

How is that Dayton's problem? His gubbmint did its job.

Why did he feel the need to comment on ‘alleged’ felony charge?

Does he make the same comment on OTHER criminals because they have too much idle time?

I apologize to all the real heroes who have PTSD suffered during their time in the wars. Our Gov is a little off his wagon comparing over-paid, criminal boys to you. This is NOT a reflection of Minnesota.

If he had just become a FReeper, he would not know the meaning of “idle time” and he would be much wiser for the experience.

Sounds like they got one from MN’s taxpayers.

I would love to ‘agree’ with you, and understand that it is not a ‘good’ thing to paint with the wide brush, but all an ‘outsider’ knows is that despite all the good, MN did give ‘us’ Jesse Ventura and Al Franken who both won high office off the ‘public vote’, whether it be a fluke or tainted, two (not so good) clowns, represent the lot of you.

I’m sure it has nothing to do with the gangsta Boyz N the Hood mentality these guys bring with them to the NFL. Nah that couldn’t be it.

One thing you need to realize is that nothing is as tempting to a legislator than the 3D computer simulation of what the view will look like from his luxury box comp tickets.

We got hosed on that in Indianapolis with Lucas “snake oil” Stadium

I’m old enough to remember when NFL players had to work a real job in the offseason to make ends meet.

My Dad used to buy insurance from Lou “the toe” Groza of the Cleveland Browns.

Is he proposing a Midnight Bassetball Program for NFLers in the off-season?

I have a solution: Make the NFL regular season 40 weeks instead of 16.

The other 12 weeks can be for training camp and playoffs. That ought to keep them occupied.
