Harbinger of the future as nations stake claims for the undiscovered riches of the sea. That and Obama is pushing the Law of the Sea Treaty allowing an international body to control US seas.

I wonder how many of those fishermen said “Oh Crap” (or worse) in Chinese just before that frigate hit them.

I somehow doubt the commitment to true liberalization of a country which does not, as soon as practicable, rename a ship called Dzerzhinsky.

Unless the ship is the namesake of some Russian naval hero or extremely clever botanist by that name...

The chinese need to get spanked every now & then, as expansionist as they have been over the past few decades.

Gotta show em where the line is, I guess.

Some Chinese commentators are pretty unhappy at this turn of events:

Chinese netizens reacted fiercely to the issue on Sina Weibo,Chinese largest Twitter-like microblogging platform. Chinese government’s weak attitude towards diplomatic relations and foregn affairs has aroused domestic strong dissatisfaction and impatience. Voices arise to learn from Russia’s “tough” to settle neighbouring conflicts that have fluttered China successively in recent.
