With the rumor that Condoleezza Rice is a frontrunner to be Mitt Romneys vice-presidential pick, shes the talk of the town. Shes so intelligent, so sophisticated, so statesmanlike and so scholarly that she could make you wonder if Hillary Clinton really ever was the most intelligent woman in America. Thats the pitch, anyway. But when you check this Rices ingredients, you have to ask, wheres the beef?
When assessing this, Im reminded of how the late Christopher Hitchens put Bill Clintons so-called intellectual prowess in perspective. The 42nd president has a long history of making statements, Hitchens pointed out, yet what has he ever said that was profound or memorable? Of course, like Clinton and I feel your pain or lawyering the word is, Rice has made memorable statements. But theyre all hamburger helperway past the sell-by date.

Yes.
Rice, a Romney...the San Francisco treat? :)
I saw her on Fox with someone shortly after 0bama granted amnesty to the 800,000 or so young illegals by executive order or whatever work-around he used to break the laws. Anyway, she was not condemning his action, seemed to be in favor of trying to find ways to help illegals. That did it for me. Not that I am in favor of Romney but that would just underscore the leftism of the GOP, if she ends up on the ticket.
Good luck. With Romney all you got is a lemon.
The white on rice ticket. LOL
Just what we need: a neoconservative Bush era throwback to boost Mitt’s Iraq War support credentials.
That’s funny.
That red meat is none other than the Right Honorable Allen West who could be Romney’s own “official Obama criticizer” ala Limbaugh’s Bo Snerdley; and, Allen West serves lots of red meat and can get away with it because he is a loyal Amercan and has 100% slave blood.
I'd pay to see Christie chew up & spit out the moronic Biden. I'd pay double to see him do the same to Obama on a daily basis as the VP nominee.
Romney seems to think he is gonna “nice guy” his way into the WH. Nice guys finish last.
I admire Condi Rice for her accomplishments and her intellect but she is far too liberal for this conservative. Romney would be a fool to pick Condi Rice as his VP when there are so many other possibilities to choose from. Romney needs an articulate conservative as his VP, a person that can be his attack dog, eviscerate dopey Joe Biden along with Obama and be a successor to Romney in 2020. Paul Ryan comes to mind.
Allen West has no coattails beyond a tiny group on the far Right. Give him a few more years before expecting much. First job is to get him re-elected.
Romney will likely appoint someone from a big, toss-up state.
It would be very interesting for Mitt to toss the choice into the convention. We could watch some good, old fashioned, wheeling and dealing.
Your screenname fits, and Col. West has a good deal of support although I cannot quantify it anymore than you can; but, thanks for the compliment for I am more Conservative than most and probably do fit into that far right group to which you refer.
Those who tell the truth without regard to conventional wisdom are often considered arrogant.
West has virtually no support outside the Hothouse. Should a legitimate poll be taken on a VP candidate would show 5% for West AT BEST. Just because I like someone does not mean many others do.
Those who have to proclaim they’re telling the truth probably wouldn’t know the truth if it gave them a big kick in the ass.
So you claim you do not tell the truth, I suppose.
LOL, feeble, but cute, “e” for effort.
“Arrogance is often underplayed by insecurity. An arrogant person tends to be arrogant to compensate for areas of weakness that distress the individual.”
Ring a bell?
Arrogance has nothing to do with one who can see your foolish hope for Alan West is ridiculous. Why would I have any insecurity about that?
But I am sure a seasoned politician is going to appoint a running mate who has appeal only to a tiny minority of the electorate. West would be the first to tell you that it is a ridiculous belief.
