Romney’s Palin Problem: Where’s Her Convention Invite? (Advisor: she will be prohibited to speak)
Newsweek ^ | Sunday July 15, 2012 | Peter Boyle

Posted on 07/15/2012 6:34:16 PM PDT by Bigtigermike

[T]he Romney campaign has not asked Palin to speak at the convention nor contacted her about even attending the party’s marquee event in Tampa. Queries to the Romney camp about any possible Palin role at the convention meet with a stony silence. Palin does not seem surprised. “What can I say?” she responded in an email from Alaska, when asked by Newsweek about the convention, just before heading to Michigan to deliver an Obama-thumping speech. “I’m sure I’m not the only one accepting consequences for calling out both sides of the aisle for spending too much money, putting us on the road to bankruptcy, and engaging in crony capitalism.”

Romney was the choice of the party’s elites, whom Palin has regarded with open disdain ever since her rough treatment during the 2008 campaign. They are some of the same people who anonymously disparaged Palin as a clueless bumpkin, and some of them are now helping to run Romney’s campaign. When unnamed Romney aides tell reporters that Romney will likely go with a “safe” choice for vice president because of the 2008 “disaster,” Palin notices.

[....]

The Romney camp will not comment on Palin, or on plans for the convention, but one adviser associated with the campaign suggested that Palin would be prohibited from speaking at the Republican convention by her contract with Fox News. “It’s true I’m prohibited from doing some things,” Palin says, “but this is the first I’ve heard anyone suggest that as an excuse, er, reason to stay away from engaging in the presidential race. I’m quite confident Fox’s top brass would never strip anyone of their First Amendment rights in this regard.” (Fox says her contract would not prohibit speaking at the convention if she sought permission.)

Thanks.

But, will the Romneybot’s support the constitution and the founding principles, or is it hands off of Romney with them?

Will we be able to hold him to the rebuilding the foundation, or will America be led into “new” ways?

If they will not gloss over his socialist tendencies and hold him to conservatism, then I would be apt to be happier voting for him.

But, I'm not holding my breath....they're too “messianic” with Romney.

she will be out there somewhere, and talking.

... and there will be a number of us listening to her speak, rather than the snoozefest convention.

I think she should hold a tea party rally in Tampa during that time. Bring out the popcorn. That would be must see TV!

Sarah Palin: “I intend to do all I can to join others in motivating the grassroots made up of independents and constitutional conservatives who can replace Barack Obama at the ballot box.”

Sarah Palin has many fans. Let’s all take Sarah’s advice and put the survival of our Constitution first ahead of the rinos so that we can soundly defeat Obama and gain firm conservative control over the GOP.

The communists have taken over the democrat party: we can do likewise with the GOP if we work together.

Dad has always said she’s young and needs the experience that a term or two as VP would give her before being president. If not VP a cabinet post...She would really take a whip to energy.

Perhaps she should have participated. Usually, even the ones who quit halfway through get an invite.

I knew the election was lost when McCain told that elderly woman that we “Dont have to fear an Obama presidency” what kind of idiot says THAT! The ONLY reason why I gave money for the first time EVER to a campaign in 2008 was because of Sarah Palin..she energized me in a way I never imagined before. The only reason why Romney doesn’t want her to be there is because he knows she will take his spotlight, something he craves. They make the excuse about her working for Fox News, OK so I guess Karl Rove and Mike Huckabee won’t be allowed to speak either?

Sorry, I didn't understand your last sentence.

If it turns out to be true, and that's a big "if", no, that's a huge "if", then Romney would be a bigger fool than I thought.

My opinion, I think he wants to win, if he wants to win, he would value her support even if he doesn't like her.

I guess we'll see, cause I don't trust this at all, it smells like the normal divide and conquer piece the LSM always makes up.

I checked the convention website, and it doesn’t appear they have asked anybody to speak yet. I think we should probably wait until they announce the convention speakers, before we get all up in arms about who is or is not speaking at the convention.

So far, do we even know if Sarah Palin has ASKED to talk at the convention? Fox News says she has to ask permission of them to talk, and they didn’t say she had yet. And there is nothing I can find on the internet that suggests Sarah sent a request to the convention committee for a speaking slot.

We can assume that all the people who actually ran for the office of President will get some sort of speaking slots. Beyond that, I don’t know who I would expect to have show up at the convention to speak.

Romney isn’t even working to get the Conservative voters energized to vote for him.

I do not want to disagree with ‘dad’ but my guess Palin was ready to be president the minute she was born.
She has been elected to office man times, and served as governor as well as VP candidate.

Sarah will not be allowed to speak at the convention for one reason, she would look like the sun to Willard’s Uranus.

Romney wants to stick it in the face of conservatives, he hates us. He will speak to the NAACP but not to Christian groups. He will never go after Obama like he went after Newt.

Well how is he going to ban her? She can go if she wants, can’t she? Now I don’t know if she’ll be invited to speak there, but I don’t see how they can ban her from attendance? If ol’ Mickel Moore showed up unexpectedly at the 2004 Republican Conven. in New York, and wasn’t banned, how are they going to do that to Sarah?

I’m tentatively pending on confirmation of this story.

I think it sounds like bunk.

But then again, I’ve been wrong before.

I certainly hope it’s bunk.

“We conservatives do not need rinos, they need us. “

Wrong. Rinos do not need us as they demonstrated in 1996 and 2008. Rinos are liberals and are fully happy banking their donations and spending their life in Washington.

I mean there should be ‘no question’ that the last vice presidential candidate will be invited to the convention - speaking or not - great role or small role whether she wants to participate or not bein up to her......but just being silent about it means that they (Romney) are at least opening question whether to Invite her or not and there was a story months ago where they question whether or not to invite Palin....so this really isn’t a new story.

Look, ethier Romney directed or his advisors took it upon themselves to sabotage Sarah anonymously in 2008 according to many publications back then....if they hate Sarah so much then they hate the Tea Party types or anyone that wants better of the party just as much and this is disheartening that they will continue to fight US more than Them, the libs and socialists

“Repeal John Boehner” should be a required promise for conservatives running for Congress.

Now, that is thinking positive! I like it.

If Palin manages to schedule a speech at the same time as the GOP keynote address, I see no problem watching hers.

No need to rehash the girlie men business-as-usual go-along-to-get-along RINOs.

The eunuchs can keep pretending that the 'Rats are worried.

I too believe that was the turning point in the election. It was a very sad moment in history.

Sarah Palin is the ONLY thing that kept McCain alive.
