the buck stops at the presidents desk....he should be fired, if he's not already, fined, and banned from ncaa colleges for a few years....
paterno knew only peripherally about all this...he hoped against hope, like any decent man of his age, that it wasn't all bad, that the guy accused was well liked by players, and perhaps it would stop.. but also, Sandusky probably argues that it was nothing but horse play....
this was an impossible situation, brought about because we give homos so many passes....no one dare question them....
the freaks that invited the gay agenda into Penn state...the same University that got rid of a female bb coach because that coach didn't want lesbians playing for her.....those are the evil idiots I want sanctioned...
Of all of the comments stated so far, your observations are probably closest to the truth.

pretty hard for a dead man to defend himself....
Paterno convicts himself with his own words from beyond the grave. Not only did he know, but he was in contact with the inner circle of the college leadership over the incidents.
paterno knew only peripherally about all this..
Paterno was directly involved. For 14 years, Paterno allowed Sandusky unrestricted access to young boys, using the college athletic building as his own private bathhouse.
Never any care taken for the fate or safety of the boys; Paterno's sole concern was damage control.
Sandusky Blew, And Paterno Knew.
Even the living can’t defend the indefensible. Paterno knew and claims he reported it. If so and he still saw Sandusky in the facility he must have known nothing was done. It’s at that point Paterno failed as a human being. He’s guilty. No defense possible.
Spanier has an interesting past.
Joe could have defended the kids, hence himself, when he found out about sandusky’s crimes and had him arrested fourteen years ago. Even the janitors knew what happened there yet they were scared to report anything for fear of their jobs. I think it is difficult to pretend that a man of of Joe’s position was ignorant to his assisstants’ dalliances.
