Yes, I believe you are correct in many ways. I remember a chart that showed the average size of an American house over the last couple of hundred years. The sizes go up and down according to the levels of national prosperity.

And I’ve personally lived in such tight quarters before. It was semi-voluntary as it was what I could afford at the time. And to be fair, in New York City such apartments would primarily be used only to sleep in as the inhabitants would spend most of their time out in the city either working, recreating, etc.

I personally don’t want to live that way again though. And to those who do... More power to you I guess.

Slaves don’t need space because slaves don’t own property.

restricting property rights by restricting storage capacity.

now you will have to rent space to hav fun.
