What would we do without Debbie Blabbermouth Schultz to kick around?

For the GOP to be ‘winning’ he needs to be ahead by 50pts.

“K Harris was a joke so this is first real reelection test.”

I agree.

Do you remember some of the online battles that were fought on Free Republic regarding her candidacy?

About 1/2 of us thought she was a waste and the other 1/2 thought she was the second coming.

“...the Tampa Trib...ultra liberal rag...”

I wasn’t aware the Tampa Tribune had changed so much. I remember them as being somewhat GOP-leaning and not as obnoxious as the St Petersburg Times.

Real Clear Politics is an aggregate of numerous polls. These polls include both competent and incompetent polling techniques. Some of these polls are intentionally biassed. Rasmussen polls are very reliable.

Random history tidbits surrounding Florida Cong. Connie Mack:

His full name is Cornelius Harvey McGillicuddy IV.

His great-grandfather, Connie Mack, was owner and manager of the Philadelphia A's during the first half of the last century. Mr. Mack's first appearance in MLB was in 1896. He's in baseball's Hall of Fame.

Connie IV has two children by his first wife. He married his current spouse, Mary, in 2007. She was the widow of singer/entertainer Sonny Bono of Sonny & Cher fame. Sonny was father to Chastity, now re-named Chaz after a gender jump. Sonny was a congressman when he was tragically killed in 1998 in a skiing accident near Lake Tahoe.

I was absent from here at that period but I’ve heard about it.

She had quite the little personality cult.

Her rather weak performances in 2 congressional elections told me all I needed to know about her chances for the Senate.

I still have the scars from that mess. And not one apology from the diehards for being 100% right about her fiasco of a candidacy. Reminded me of the same folks who insisted how Sharron Angle was such a “winner” in Nevada.

Yes, DJ was prescient about how Harris couldn’t win. She was an absolute disaster in that race. The problem for conservatives was that her money and bullying tactics scared off every conceivable top-tier Republican from the race, so the primary pit her against a series of third-tier challengers with no money (the most prominent of whom got the little name ID that he had from the fact that he had the same surname as the losing Dem gubernatorial candidate from four years before). I supported *any* viable candidate to enter the race (with Jeb as my first choice), but once the primary field was set it was pick-your-poison time. Harris was as bad as Sharron Angle, but there was no Lowden or Tarkanian in the primary field, and Harris was 1,000 times better than that deadbeat, conwoman Christine O’Donnell.

But...but...but...Christine O’Donnell is hot looking! (sarcasm)

LOL. Of course, one of the arguments some FReepers offered in favor of Katherine Harris is that she looked good riding that horse in that photo.

I was an early enthusiast for O’Donnell.

I don’t exactly regret not backing that hunk of crap Castle but still, fail, cause she did more than lose her own race, she embarrassed the party and the tea party.

And yes it’s easier to get excited about hotties, I guess I’m no better than a common John Edwards fangurl. What can I say? ;p

New poll from survey USA has Mack leading Nelson by 48-42.

The same poll has Obama leading by 48-43 so I don’t know what to make of it.

This is the second poll showing Connie Mack pulling ahead of Bill Nelson, so it must be happening. I don’t know why and I certainly don’t like Mack, but we need him to take over the U.S. Senate. I still couldn’t vote for Mack in the Republican primary.
