This is step to loosening the horrible grip NYC has on housing. If there was a free market there would be I bet hundred of thousands of these type of units already available.

This reminds me of the apartments the Soviets built for their people in Moscow and other cities. Living hell holes, no privacy, community lavatories and kitchens and falling apart construction due to shoddy workmanship and NO maintenance. WTG there Big Apple. That's Progress with a capital "P".
