How would "A Day Without Illegal Aliens" impact our lives?

On May 1, 2006, millions of illegal aliens and their supporters took to the streets in cities across the nation for the so-called "A Day Without Immigrants" protests.
.
.
On that day, many illegal aliens chose to 'boycott' their jobs (which they held illegally) so that those businesses would have to shut their doors.

However, the financial impact was minimal at best and the massive number of protesters only served to demonstrate just how truly laughable our border security had become.

Now, one citizen-advocacy group has taken their idea and put a new twist on it...

The Tea Party Immigration Coalition (TPIC) has announced that July 15 will be their first annual "A Day Without Illegal Aliens."
.
.
The TPIC is urging Americans to visit their Facebook page and post their stories.

Some ideas include:

-job loss -violent crime -increased healthcare costs -reduced property values -stolen identity -injured by drunk driving or unlicensed illegal aliens -impact on public schools -bankrupt cities and towns

In the past, the TPIC has sponsored the widely observed National Remembrance Day for Those Killed by Illegal Aliens.

I have always thought those that support illegal immigration ARE racist and conversations with them has not changed my mind. Supporting illegal immigration is racist and is as close as you can get to slavery conditions. Illegals are exploited, lied to, treated inhumanely, transported in downright life threatening (indeed many do die in the process) conditions and abandoned in the desert to die. Many are held against their will while families are forced to pay ransom- sometimes above the agreed upon smuggling fee. Many are forced to smuggle drugs to get here. Anyone that claims to support illegal immigration for humane reasons is clueless and comedic.

Hubby and I happened to be in El Paso, Texas on that day- the only businesses we noticed closed were food wagons, small food stands, and some mom and pop restaurants. There were no vital businesses closed. We did notice the Home Depot parking lot seemed to be free of illegals harassing customers for jobs. Later in the afternoon it looked like many of the bars were jammed though so I guess it was a good day for them.

Illegals also have jobs that hard working citizens used to have. Agriculture businesses were the first to run off citizen workers in favor of illegals- soon followed by construction, motel/restaurant, on and on.

Illegals taking jobs Americans don’t want or won’t do is a huge liberal lie. Many employers prefer illegals because of cost savings- illegals will work for less money, few or no benefits, do not as a rule complain about unsafe working conditions- there are many benefits to employers at least short-term. One glaring problem is illegals cannot make it on the cheap wages either- especially those with a family. That is why illegals are a major drain on our education, medical, and social services and other systems.

Seasonal crop harvesting is one area where it truly is hard to hire the numbers of workers at just the time they are needed. There are government programs for workers to come in from other countries and do those jobs (mainly Mexico) and many farmers near me go through the program to get workers and it seems to work for them. Some hire illegals claiming it is impossible for them to get legal workers but I wonder why it seems to work for those that choose not to hire illegals.

I believe we need to crack down on employers of illegals- in every business that hires illegals there are competing businesses that don’t. How is it fair for those that do not hire illegals to have to compete with those that do?

Will the illegals also NOT be using our tax dollars that day? If so, where is the downside here?

Businesses hate the free market and competition, which is why they are always trying to get the government to do their bidding.

One example that irritates the hell out of me in Michigan is the smoking ban in bars. Casinos lobbied for it but got exemptions for themselves. They used government to impose restrictions on small business owners.

You mean a day where a truck load of paco’s does not pull up in my driveway and look in the garage window to see what they can come back and steal? Works for me.

In June 2010, illegal aliens represented 14.8 percent of Arizona state prisoners.

We could lower taxes!

Back in the 1850s a big argument slave owners used to use was they couldn't afford to employ free blacks or whites on the plantations, because the wages would put them out of business. How many times have we heard that same argument used to justify the current broken immigration system? We had a civil war that proved how bogus that argument was.

Oh yes all those businesses would just fold up if they couldn’t hire illegals. Problem with that argument is when the government actually does a big workplace raid and detains all the illegals then citizens line up for their jobs.
