“Taxes” are for Revenue. SCOTUS is Wrong.

Clearly.

The Constitution is very clear: taxes are to raise revenue not to punish "undesireable" behavior.

it doesnt matter, the government at all levels will do anything, include break any law to impose absolute control (socialism)

from the local level allowing "utility" monopolies to raise rates, to the seizure of property, manipulation of property values, to the federal level using the SCOTUS or EPA, etc as socialist political tools

nothing (including voting) will change this except violent revolution, may as well get used to it

Saying that SCOTUS is wrong is tilting at windmills. Just like Roe v Wade and others, the solution is to elect people who will repeal and write better laws.

The real question: How (other than some pigs being more equal than other animals) could there be such a thing as a "waiver" to a tax???

SCOTUS bent over backwards to find some way to find this law passed by Congress Constitutional. They upheld the law(even though it was a bad partisan law) based on the fact that Congress can and does tax us in many different ways. But Congress can't make up its mind if is a tax or not. That said, if it is a tax then it's a law - if it isn't a tax then it is not Constitutional. Those that say it is not a tax are trending on the ground that it is not Constitutional and have no respect for SCOTUS and are breaking the law. Those that say it is a tax respect SCOTUS’s decision and are abiding by the law. SCOTUS needs get into the discussion. Calling it a tax or not is not minor. If I'm not mistaken, 51 votes in the Senate can modify a tax. Otherwise . . .
