I have MANY times - every time I'm on a thread and SARAH is mentioned, "that altura kind" has a front row seat acting clueless, then does the usual backpedal about liking Sarah when he's taken on. I could almost write altura posts, acting like is not aware, then the zingers, then the backpedal, then more rant. Flip flopping all the way through. Did I mention dumb as rocks? Mitt is like McCain who was like Dole. All three suffer from the same ego driven disease. Mitt has as much “fire in the belly” as an Eskimo’s snowball, much like his predecessors on this same path.
Given Mitt's track record, it's not beyond the realm of possibility that "the boss" was floundering around deciding which side he's on and Fehrnstrom missed the latest memo!
IIRC (I'm from MA) he was basically MIA the second half of his term because he was campaigning for President. IMO the state would have been better off if he'd resigned to run and given his Lt. Gov. a leg up -- which might have saved us from Deval!

Are you from MA? I ask because several conservatives and FReepers have told me independently that Mitt was a big improvement over previous governors and the current occupant.
They also indicated that government universal healthcare was coming to MA no matter what and that Romney made it more palatable. He faced two solidly Democrat and liberal state houses, along with a judiciary that isn’t one to see the Constitution or conservatism ever. Many of the positions he took regarding MA healthcare were at the time espoused by conservatives and the Heritage Foundation.
It’s just like being a conservative in Cook County, IL. If you want to rant and crab stick to your guns and never compromise. You’ll be guaranteed a “clean” conscience and 100% liberalism. If you want to move the cause forward then you’ll have to compromise, but the net result is less liberalism.
It seems that we judge people like Monday morning quarterbacks too often. We’re happy to sit in our stool moaning and righteous, but never run, never get elected and never rule.
Yeah, within a day of McCain choosing Palin to be his VP running mate, Romney's people were out talking to their MSM accomplices suggesting that Palin was unqualified for VP and that she should excuse herself from the VP slot to make way for Romney. This was after McCain selected her but BEFORE the convention, a three or four day period. I believe that Kathleen Parker was the witch who volunteered to float that particularly nasty balloon for Team Romney. And has already been posted, Erick Erickson got wind of it, and Madden was ID'd as the hatchet man.
I'm from MA and I found Mitt a constant disappointment -- of course, it was kind of confusing to follow exactly what was going on because of his penchant for saying one thing and doing another!
As I recall, he was solidly for RomneyCare. He was, after all, the governor, which even in a liberal state would have given him a bully pulpit, if he had chosen to use it. He didn't even pretend to have reservations -- and loudly voiced reservations, even if ineffective, would look a lot better on his record if he wants to pretend to be a conservative.
It just shows you the true character of Mitt Romney. He is a true POS.

I suggest that you go back to the 2008 and 2009 Palin threads of that period and you will see exactly how vicious and underhanded Romney's flying monkeys were in trying to remove her from the GOP picture because of the existential threat she posed to both Romney and the GOP-E.
I find it hilarious that people now want to selectively forget about all of that in order to carry water now for Romney.
