ABC News’ Michael Falcone reports:

In what is now a well-known exchange from ABC News’ January 2008 Republican presidential debate at St. Anselm College in New Hampshire, Mitt Romney declared “I like mandates” when asked by moderator Charlie Gibson about his approach to health care reform in Massachusetts.

But there’s another moment from the debate that’s getting more traction after yesterday’s Supreme Court ruling — on in which Romney says “yes,” when asked is the health reform law he ushered in as governor constituted a tax.

GIBSON: ”Governor … you imposed tax penalties in Massachusetts?”

ROMNEY: ”Yes, we said, look, if people can afford to buy it, either buy the insurance or pay your own way; don’t be free-riders.”

Compare and contrast...

BOSTON, MA - Two years after the implementation of a health care reform law aimed at providing health coverage for nearly all Massachusetts residents, public support for the law remains high. According to a new poll by the Harvard School of Public Health and the Blue Cross Blue Shield of Massachusetts Foundation, over two-thirds (69%) of Massachusetts residents support the law... compared to 67% in 2007 and 61% in 2006.

Rasmussen Reports - A week after President Obama’s health care law was passed, 54% of voters nationwide wanted to see the law repealed. Now, as the Supreme Court is set to issue a ruling on the law’s constitutionality, the numbers are unchanged: 54% want to see the law repealed.

Liberals make no distinction between states and the Fed.

Well if the question is whether ROmney is a guy we want the answer is NO.

The only pub that would have beat him, Palin didn’t run.

The ONLY thing that is relevant now is that Romney has said that he would repeal ObamaTaxCare on Day 1. If he is lying we are in the same situation we will be in if Obama is elected (actually it will be worse since he will have a ‘mandate’ for his actions and won’t have to worry about re election).

Romney is the ONLY game in town now. It sucks but as conservatives we have to deal with reality not what we wish would happen.

Romney has to IMO at some point say, I did this in MAss but after seeing the result it I realize it would be wrong for the country.

No we don't have to deal with it. I won't help give Romney a certain 8 years, when he is as bad as Obama. Voting for Romney like prostituting yourself to someone you despise, and not being paid.

If romney gets in we move "extremely" left and just like entitlements, you can't go back.

And what is your solution? It's Romney or Obama. Obama or Romney. There are no alternatives to those of us who choose to live in reality.

Romney is not as bad as Obama. Romney is malleable. He'll be more like Clinton and, by comparison, Clinton was a far better prize than Obama the inflexible ideologue.

Your are brain dead, ROmney has little in the way of principles but wants very badly to get elected, Clinton without the rape and corruption.

He has stated he would repeal Obamacare and signoff on the Ryan budget.

If Obama get in Obamacare will never go away and the country is finished.

If you want to screw your kids to maintain your lofty whatever be my guest.

I did not trust the gop-e or Ann Coulter or Drudge or anyone else to tell me who Romney is and what he actually did as governor. If people really had known who Romney is, and not trusted others to define him, he would not have won a single state, but the gop protected him and their cohorts in the media carried there water.

I won't vote for romney BECAUSE I care about my kids. Romney is better known as ABO. It's sad the power people give Obama when they fear him so much. Fear causes people to do things they will later regret. I will not vote for someone because I'm scared of the other guy. I have yet to meet one person (except for mormons) who even likes romney. That should say a lot about him.

I think forcing 5 yr olds to be indoctrinated into the “gay lifestyle”, is soulless. How can any man want to corrupt the hearts and minds of children who can't even read? Normally parents could opt there children out, but romney said no. Check it out yourself. He is starting out worse than Obama did. How do we know he won't be just as bad or worse?

I know, he'll be good on the economy, and who cares about morals? Money, jobs....that's what matters. Who cares what your children are taught. The most important thing is money not kids?

What does it profit a man (or his children) to gain he whole world and lose his soul. I would not trust romney to watch my husband's dog, and I don't like the dog. Obama is not the only evil person in this world and Romney is NOT on the side of angels. And I mean God's angels, not John Smith's supposed angel.

Well if you are waiting for government to solve moral problems you have a long wait. Government isn’t going to save anyone’s soul.

Why would you want to cede to government that which has traditionally been the province of Church’s.When conservatives started playing that game they paved the way for libs to use government to put their view of society forward.

You want to limit government not empower it.

Your exactly right, government is never going to  solve our problems or save our souls. Some politicians might be courageous leaders and get government out of our lives so WE can teach our children what WE believe and  not have government people like romney forced his views on our kids. I don't want to condemn all politicians, but most have sold out to special interest to get reelected.  He can say he changed, but you have to have discernment. Romney is like a chameleon ; he changes colors depending on the environment he is in.

We are being hypocritical if we only criticize the left for evil policies they take, and not stand up to the wrong in our own party. In fact, to give romney the prize of the presidency, while he is guilty of the same things Obama does, is hypocritical. I blame romney, the gop and media on the right for not allowing the truth to come out before the primaries, about who romney is. Many voted for him out of ignorance or trusted the party to tell us who he is. Because of them, the country is moving extremely left (especially socially) and add to that the mormons will think the prophecies about him are true which will only reinforce there belief in a false religion.

I am not “afraid” of obama and won't vote out of fear. Fear causes people to do things they will later regret. I don't see many differences between romney and obama. They are both big libs and evil. Why would any Christian vote for an evil person? How do you justify that before God. “Sorry God, I was more afraid of Obama than You.  The reason I tell you all this is because this is more than just politics. We are in a fight against good and evil. I think every person will have to decide who they trust. The democrats, the republicans or God. I won't vote for someone who has enacted so much evil in our government and much of the evil was directed at kids.
