2010 - When we take the House, the first and only job will be to turn back ObamaCare...
2012 - When we take the White House and the Senate, the first and only job will be to turn back ObamaCare...
Same song, different chorus. More than a few golden opportunities have presented themselves to overturn ObamaCare, most notably the spending cap increase - ‘You want to spend the nation into debt, ObamaCare goes into the trash can.’
Heck, 100 watt incandescent light bulbs are STILL illegal to sell - we’re just told that since there’s no money allocated to enforcing it, this is a win. I want the government OUT of my life, not cuddled up next to me in bed with promises it won’t snore.
Congress can now do the job it promised in 2010 - repeal ObamaCare.
Certainly they have the power to do so, but a certain Obama veto trumps that power. Since the Senate as currently constituted would never repeal, it makes little sense for the House to move forward on its own and risk the loss of any seats in November. Choose a battle that can be won, and then use the win to secure victory.
IIRC, the House did vote on repealing Obamacare...knowing it would be ignored by Harry Reid’s senate.
We have to have the entire structure, my friend, just like the Demon-rat party had the entire structure in 2009 and 2010.
Same song, different chorus.
Yep. Wake me up when it is gone. Til then the only thing I can do is vote and we see where that has got me so far.
The House reps did but the dems lock on the Senate stops damn near everything
We need the Senate in 12
The key is, IF they get the power, they have to repeal it, or the base will run and they will loose worse than 2006/08. They know it. A quick repeal and a sensible replacement, with STRONG TORT REFORM, will win them 20 years of dominance in DC
It is all about power, the Republicans want it back, if they get It back they damn well want to keep it. The only way to do that is to deliver.
Thank you for laying it out so well.
The truth hurts and the truth is this:
The GOP campaign on this stuff, but the leadership of the GOP is composed of pussies. Plain and simply, they’re pussies.
These idiots, like Boehner et al, don’t want to do the work required to mount a successful legislative campaign for what we want. They want to be invited to parties, golf outings, etc with liberals in the mosquito-infested swamp that is DC.
The first, biggest problem of the GOP is that they don’t understand that for many of us, we don’t want government to “function more efficiently,” we want it out of our lives. They *claim* they understand this sentiment, but their actions speak otherwise. They don’t really understand what people want.
