Not "Automats" by any stretch of the imagination. Not fast food either. Wawa is a privately owned Fortune 500 company and is not minority owned. They actually have pretty high standards for employment, do not hire those with criminal backgrounds and the pace of work at these stores weeds out the slackers and deadbeats. They also pay better than any other company of that type.
Yes, I know about them because after I sold my company several years ago I started to work for them and was a manager at one for a few years before I completely retired.

My references were to the staff not the owners. Maybe you are right about the pace and pay getting a better worker.
