So will these things happen if Mitt Romney does the same?
YES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Not that it makes a huge difference, but my M.A. is in Latin American Politics, and my thesis was on the political culture of corruption in Mexico. Even I, a serious pessimist even 15 years ago when I wrote my thesis, would not have predicted how bad the narco problem would become in Mexico.
They are very close to a failed state, and the violence will continue to creep across our border. It’s a question of how much of it - and giving what amounts to an amnesty to the illegals here now, only opens the door for the cartels to become bolder each day.
If Romney pursues the same policies of allowing illegal immigration to go unchecked and the laws unenforced, the sky is the limit for the growth of narco-fueled corruption and violence in the US.
I can’t see Romney going after the states with a vendetta the way Obama has.
What I think we should do is focus on today's pResident. Unless we do there's no telling what Romney or any future President would do and how they would choose to push foward their agenda (whatever that may be).
If we ignore the practices of this pResident then it's a message to all future Presidents. That message is "if you can't do it legally, by-pass Congress. If it's unconstitutional, do it anyway and say 'it's the right thing to do', if the Supreme Court decides against it, ignore their decision.
So, really. Right now it does not matter what Romney would do. What matters is HOW he would do it and how he does it depends on whether or not we allow this pResident to continue to set precedent with his stomping on the way our system worked up until 2008.
Well, America might not lose its constitution quite as quickly if Mitt opens these doors. Otherwise yes the dangers are the same.
