Ten EU foreign ministers participating in a study group for the future of Europe aim to exert pressure to transform the EU into a federation along the lines of the US. Together they have prepared what the front-page headline in Die Presse describes as a Plan for transformation into a European state. On 19 June, the ten ministers presented an initial report to the EU officials who will likely benefit the most from the initiative: Commission President José Manuel Barroso, European Council President Herman Van Rompuy, European Central Bank President Mario Draghi and Eurogroup President Jean-Claude Juncker.
The study group for the future initiated by Germany's Guido Westerwelle, which does not currently include an official French representative, proposes to put an end to the dominance of national government leaders and give greater authority to the European Commissionin particular the European Commission president, who will be elected by universal suffrage and granted the right to form a governmental team, making him or her the most powerful politician in Europe.
The group also recommends replacing European councils of ministers and heads of state with a chamber of states in the European parliament. National competencies, most notably the management of borders, defense and public spending will be transferred to the federation, making membership of the euro irreversible.

Another recipe for disaster in the making.

I can’t believe you honestly believe in prophecy. Christ, you know, has been gone a very long time. You don’t honestly think he’s still coming back, do you? So what if ten nations join to give power to a literal king. Pure coincidence! Maybe a government that strong will finally be able to bring world peace. Do you have a problem with peace?
Seriously now, I was just pointing out what the naysayers think about a unified Europe formed out of ten lesser powers. The vast majority of the world literally doesn’t believe Christ will return, so even if end times events happen right in front of their eyes, they’ll be oblivious.
I’m not saying this is it, the big deal, but just because Christ is a long time in returning and the world is going on pretty much as it always has, it doesn’t mean the end times aren’t eventually going to happen. Some generation has to be alive at that time and will experience it.
BTW, I just finished watching a long address by the SecDef praising the repeal of DADT in celebration of LGBT month. How far we’ve come, eh? Not only tolerance of sodomy, a very high risk sex behavior in a military that supposedly values physical fitness and readiness, but actual CELEBRATION of guys who like to play with poo. Evil is praised as good and good is treated as evil by the SecDef, but no end times events there, either.
Redistribution is the next step, like they’re doing here.
“You dont honestly think hes still coming back, do you?”
I do.
When the Son of Man comes, shall he find faith on the earth?Oh yeah, and please stop posting personal opinion as fact.
I’m hardly qualified to speak for Him, but from the current “state of things gone to hell”, I’m thinking that He has a lot of work to do here. We’ve sure made a mess of what He lovingly gave us.
Europe,a nation of petty nation states, rife with self interest will never coalesce into a united federal republic. Meanwhile, the U.S.A. is breaking up from one united nation to a racially balkanized conglomeration. We had a republic; who knows if we can keep it.
I also believe that Christ is coming back.
No, but the EU can still coalesce into an empire. The bureaucrats named in the original post already believe it is an empire.
As Europe implodes...I am still amazed that there are those on this side of the world who still want to emulate the EU....like continuing NAFTA, free trade, starting a North American Union with a one-continent currency (Amero), bank bailouts.....emulating everything that the EU has done.
Olog-hai, I was pointing out what nonbelievers and leftists, but I repeat myself, will say in regards to a new Roman Empire in Europe. People literally will say Christ is a long time coming, so He’s not returning. That has always interested me personally, because I find it amazing that people will refuse to believe even when end time events are happening around them. I believe scripture says there will be a great delusion.
So I’m sure people will claim other generations thought it was the end times, too. That’s a valid point up until the right generation occurs, and we might very well be it. Like in the times of Noah, people were pretty much doing what they had always done, but then they were gone. Just like that.
BTW, I think we’re on the same team here.
They’d probably have something workable if they’d only leave Spain, Portugal and Italy out of it.
So the social market economy is “workable”? Remember that it’s a branch of socialism. They aren’t about to take it out of their list of articles of “confederation”. (I’m too long in delaying the purchase of Bernard Connolly’s “The Rotten Heart Of Europe: The Dirty War For Europe’s Money” . . . I’ve only read snippets online, and the corruption over there would even make most useful-idiot-level liberals outraged.)
Demonic forces were very active during the time of Christ. It appears that our world today is also very active as well. Perhaps they know their time is short?
