Is the source of the apology noted as a military official inside the Syrian military, or is the apology being noted as from an official source inside the Syrian government? If have read could I have your opinion as to validity of report of apology?

Syrian authorities have apologized for taking down a military plane that had lost contact with the Turkish Armed Forces earlier today, Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdoğan said. ______________________________________ It doesn't say exactly who the "authorities" are, however, the source for the article is apparently from the big enchilada (or, being Turkey, the big kebab) himself. If it was good enough for the Turkish PM, I'd say it likely came from somewhere fairly high-up in Syria. I'd also think that the chinless opthomalogist has enough headaches to deal with right now, and getting into a military confrontation with Turkey is likely not something very high on his "to-do" list. However, the plot thickens: just recently on Hürriyet, this came out: Turkish Prime Minister says cannot say whether Turkish warplane shot down or crashed, no news on pilots. The plane was taken down by Syrian forces, an official Turkish source confirmed to Hürriyet Daily News. The pilots of a crashed Turkish military still missing and Turkish military is searching for the two pilots PM Erdoğan said. Curiouser and curiouser as a young lady named Alice once said.
