Calif. lawmakers set budget vote as deadline looms

California lawmakers have scheduled a Friday budget vote on their plan to balance a $15.7 billion deficit as they run up against a constitutional deadline or risk losing their pay.

With Gov. Jerry Brown refusing to sign off on their plan, Democratic leaders said they would work to pass a budget and continue negotiations with him on several sticking points, particularly welfare cuts.

The key will be to use Guv Moonbeam as the fulcrum....

Then you’ll be ahead, whether it balances or not....

I bet that Moonbeam holds strong, and lawmakers do what they’ve already announced they’ll do - which is cave and hope to recover on the backside. Only thing is, to get ‘back’ any funding, it means they have to ‘give’ more funding to the schools at the same time. Budget by ballot box strikes again... Teacher’s union is always first, followed behind by the prison and police unions.
