That’s why I bought a 40 cal. H&K. It has a safety which a glock and many other handguns don’t.
Personally I don’t want the safety mechanism built into the trigger. I can either grip a grip safety (1911) or as I am pulling out of the holster flip a thumb safety.
John Browning's 1911 and his Browning Hi-Power (1935) have multiple safeties.
That said, it's impossible to idiot-proof any firearm. I wouldn't Mexican-carry any pistol, and certainly wouldn't carry one with the business end aimed at some of my favorite parts.
(Depending, the Glock fan may qualify for a Darwin Award.)
I’d rather not mess with a safety when my life depends on it...
Glock has a safety. It’s built into the trigger to make it quick and easy to disengage (a little too easy in my opinion).
That’s why I prefer a Springfield XD. Has a Glock-type safety and a grip safety as well (some models even have a slide safety).

My S&W doesn’t have an external safety. However, unlike the story’s protagonist, I use common sense when I carry.
Yeah and we all know that Glocks fire without the slide being racked. Hell they don’t even have to be loaded. Or assembled for that matter.
A Glock has three safeties, the difference is it is a big boy gun like a revolver and they expect the owner to not pull the freakin’ trigger on a live round unless the weapon is on target.
