I hadn't heard or read anything about this. I know that nothing that the leftist media does surprises us anymore, but this seems to rise to a new level, even for HBO.

I once saw for sale urinal cakes with Obama’s photo on them.

I dislike Obama, but that was too much.

I see the Left isn’t so principled.

All these websites moaning about this have given so much advertisement to the fact that his head was on a stake. Something which I am sure less than 1% of the viewers actually noticed while watching. On the dvd they mention that it was not intentional to use the head but they worked with what they had. Since I love the show I will give them the benefit of the doubt and believe what they say. This is being blown way out of proportion, and why do people even care about this?

The purpose of this latest ‘Tempest in a Teapot’ is to bring up the name ‘Bush’ during this election cycle. The episode this originally appeared on was over a year ago.

They (Liberals) want people to make a big deal about it to draw attention away from Romney and once again make this election Obama v. Bush. Getting upset about it now is playing into their hands.

They want you to be upset and make noise pointing to a largely popular TV series. It just makes conservatives look dumb. Be upset about unemployment, be upset about Obamacare, be upset about any number of things he’s done - ignore the tomfoolery of his supporters. It won’t stick to Obama - he didn’t put the head on a pole.

Saw it posted earlier today with a photo of the head on a “geek news” site. Despite the link title saying “topless” there’s no nudity on this page at least. Think it’s a “new movie” Star Wars joke...

I guess they think it will create buzz and make lots of people go see the movie.

Reprehensible.

I doubt that they intended this, but any libs on the set who thought that this would be funny only managed to imply that GW was one of Ned Stark’s men; i.e. one of the good guys. And they probably didn’t realize that since Obama is the Joffrey Baratheon of American politics, an abusive, spoiled child who throws tantrums when he doesn’t get his way, the prop makes sense from that perspective as well.

'Game of Thrones' apologizes for severed George Bush head (Another load of crap "apology")

HBO and producers of "Game of Thrones" apologized Thursday for a scene that depicted former President George W. Bush's severed head on a spike. The scene first aired last year and was repeated on a DVD release in March. But in a particularly bad piece of timing for HBO, stories about it spread online this week, when the network premiered a documentary on Bush's father, former President George H.W. Bush. Bush's head was one of several on spikes in a scene where King Joffrey reveals to his fiancé the severed head of her father, who he had judged disloyal. The...

HBO did not respond to our request for comment, but as outrage mounted Wednesday, they released a statement saying they were "deeply dismayed to see this and find it unacceptable, disrespectful and in very bad taste." HBO also said the scene would be removed from future DVD pressings.

LOS ANGELES -- HBO has apologized for using a model head of former President George W. Bush in a grisly decapitation scene for its hit drama "Game of Thrones." The tenth episode of the first season of "Game of Thrones," now out on DVD, features the younger Bush's head on a stake. Commentary on the DVD notes that his head appears in a "couple of beheading scenes." The show creators David Benioff and D.B. Weiss stated that George W. Bush's was used as physical inspiration to create a head for a scene in which King Joffrey shows Sansa Stark her...

HBO has apologized for a scene in its hit fantasy series “Game of Thrones” that showed the decapitated head of former President George W. Bush on a pike and said the scene will be removed from future DVD releases, the Web site io9.com reported. ... “The last head on the left is George Bush,” the producers say in the audio commentary. “George Bush’s head appears in a couple beheading scenes. It’s not a choice, it’s not a political statement. It’s just, we had to use what heads we had around.”

Via Mediaite. The producers say it’s not political and that they used him just because they happened to have a spare Bush head lying around (what?), but Gothamist wants so badly to believe that it's a Gesture Of Defiance towards our deposed Hitler that I almost hope for their sake that it's deliberate. The perfunctory denial: HBO responded to CBSNewYork.com’s request for comment on Wednesday night, offering the following statement from Benioff and Weiss:“What happened was this: we use a lot of prosthetic body parts on the show: heads, arms, etc. We can’t afford to have these all made from scratch,...

Politicians are calling for a boycott of HBO's fantasy series Game of Thrones after the creator's 'despicable' decision to include former President George W. Bush's severed head in several scenes. In the tenth episode of the first season, Mr Bush's decapitated head is seen impaled on a wooden spike, covered in filthy long hair and slathered in dirt. Show creators David Benioff and D.B. Weiss, who noted the appearance in the series' DVD commentary, insist it wasn't a political statement - just a prop. But the image has provoked outrage among some Republican politicians.
