He should have skinned ‘em and ate ‘em and nobody would have known.

A conservative estimate on the number of squirrels I have shot in my life is about 200.

And I ate every one.

My dog must seem like Bib Laden or Attila the Hun to the critters around here

I like squirrels. Most normal people do.

Boy they would go crazy if they knew how many morning doves I’ve eaten. Course I used up many boxes of birdshot too. Those suckers can be hard to hit, they bank faster than jets.

I’ve no problem with shooting squirrels; but hanging them from a fence, in a residential area isn’t right.

Kentucky Doctors Warn Against a Regional Dish: Squirrels’ Brains

By SANDRA BLAKESLEE
Published: August 29, 1997

Doctors in Kentucky have issued a warning that people should not eat squirrel brains, a regional delicacy, because squirrels may carry a variant of mad cow disease that can be transmitted to humans and is fatal.

A squirrel is nothing more than a rat with good PR.

I’ve killed thousands of ground squirrels. Thousands.

In the last 15 years, I’d reckon somewhere between 3 and 4K is a firm estimate right now... shot, poisoned, gassed, blown up, trapped... you name it, I’ve done it.

Rats with furry tails. Son and husband killed many back in SC. They would destroy the pecans. Every single one off a 30’+ tree.

If he didn’t eat them, I can agree with assassinating. If he didn’t want to eat them he should have followed the 3 S doctrine. Shoot shovel and shut up.

So? When the groundhogs were getting too brazen (climbing the plum tree, sending the babies through the garden fence to bring out the tomatoes) I put a road-kill squirrel in their hole.

This is Jersey.

They got the message.

This is news? Damn, around here its called hunting season for food. Fox squirrels, Gray squirrels, and a variant of black Fox squirrel are all good around here. Because of the Cuterebra fly we don't eat them when its the temperature is conducive for flies. Nothing turns the stomach more than biting into some good ole’ squirrel flesh and leaving half a worm.
