sigh.

I’m reminded of Richard Jewell who was tarred and feathered by the media as the suspect in the Atlanta 1996 Summer Olympics of placing the pipe bomb that he discovered on the grounds of Centennial Olympic Park. He was tried and convicted by the media, even though he was never charged by the police who, eventually found the real perpetrator. After all the dust settled, the question was asked “where does he go to get his reputation back?”

George Zimmerman is in exactly the same boat. Angela Corey charged him with 2nd degree murder based on the media’s relentless attacks on his character and their misrepresentations and outright manipulations of the evidence in the case in conjunction with the various race-baiters demanding his head. Corey should have known better, once she reviewed the evidence but, apparently, she’s never seen a media circus that she didn’t want to get in front of.

Now we have Alan Dershowitz weighing in and taking the circus to a whole new level. Maybe he’s right, maybe he isn’t, I’m past caring. But the question remains - long after the media have packed up their tents, gathered their elephants, lions, tigers and clowns and moved on to the next trumped up media event, where does George Zimmerman go to get his reputation and his life back?? Richard Jewell never recovered from the media smear attacks against him and, eventually, it cost him his life.

George Zimmerman won’t be able to walk into a “reputation store” and get his reputation back when he is exonerated. No one will apologize and no one will want him to be part of their neighborhood watch organization again. So, while Corey and Dershowitz try to get face time and appear relevent, the circus atmosphere rolls merrily along at George Zimmerman’s expense.

I can't let that go without pointing out that it was former FBI Director Louis Freeh who leaked Jewell's name to the press.

That's Ruby Ridge, TWA 800, Khobar Towers, Wen Ho Lee, 'where did Vince Foster commit suicide', Chinese political contributions to the Clinton campaign, Waco, (and much more) Louis Freeh.

Who, incidentally, after being forced out as FBI Director for his failures, was selected to head up Penn State's investigation of itself and whose firm was hired by the New Orleans Saint to investigate whether its owner had the 'wire-tapping' equipment in the owner's box.

He'll always give you the answer you want.

Richard Jewell never got his reputation back, as you note. And he died young.

The man who wrongfully identified Jewell to the press was Louis Freeh. After being forced out as head of the FBI in disgrace (the whole Robert Hansen espionage bit was too much, apparently, after Ruby Ridge, TWA 800, Waco, Chinese political contributions, 'where did Vince Foster commit suicide', Wen Ho Lee, Khobar Towers), Mr. Freeh is doing quite well in the private sector.

He's heading up Penn State's internal investigation of its Sandusky pedophilia coverup. His firm is heading up the New Orleans Saints internal investigation of the owners' box 'wire-tapping' scandal.

Good gigs for a guy whose reputation seems to suggest he like to begin with a conclusion and then have his subordinates write the report to support it.

That is why I despise the media and those who make it up so.

Addendum to previous post: Don't forget the guy on the USS IOWA turret explosion that they tried to railroad, even going so far as to claim that he had a homosexual relationship with one of the victims. I never thought I would say it but the members of the media are lower than members of the Democrat Party.
