Huffington Post slams new freedom of speech law in Canada

The Canadian Conservative party just passed C-304, the Protecting Freedom Bill, through the House of Commons. If passed by the Senate, the bill would bring American style freedom of speech rights to Canadians.

Currently the Canadian government has a commission that decides what Canadians can and can not say. Numerous Canadians have been fined for "speech crimes." The commission is seen as a relic of the Soviet Union by conservatives. The commission has also been accused of carrying out politically motivated vendettas. Prominent Canadian leaders have even used the commission to try to intimidate Americans, such as Ann Coulter, from speaking in Canada.

Canadians are even banned from stating certain opinions in private conversations if the conversation takes place over the phone.

The Huffington Post called the passing of C-304 by the House "a moment of glee for white supremacists," and "a step towards a more racist, less tolerant Canada."

The Huffington Post polled its readers and found 65% are opposed to freedom of speech in Canada. It seems the editorial staff at the Huffington Post, and 65% of Huffington Post readers, opposes America-style 1st amendment rights for Canada.

If they oppose free speech for Canadians, how do they feel about the 1st Amendment in the United States?

Well for the HuffingtonPuffington Post it’s free speech for me and not for thee. All these leftist liberals want to say whatever they want to but god help you if you defy them with your opinion.

Freedom from offensive speech (AKA hate speech) is nothing new for the progressives.

The retards who see racism in every puff od smoke will hoisted on their own petard one day. They’ll still be using that meme when there are no whites left in Canada.

The real crime is this: “...the Canadian government has a commission that decides what Canadians can and can not say.”

Beware of the maxtrix, thought control will be next.

The one thing the left cannot allow — freedom of speech. It is garlic to their vampirism...

“Restrictions on freedom of speech undermine the foundations of justice, including the bedrock principle: equality before the law.”

Freedom of speech—along with the freedoms of press, religion, assembly and to petition for grievances—is acknowledged as guaranteed from encroachment by government in the 1st amendment to the US Constitution for a reason.

Immediately following it is the 2nd Amendment, or `fail-safe’ amendment, which recognizes only one God-given right.

As Churchill put it, `Better to jaw-jaw than war-war.’

Of course. They would prefer to exterminate you for thoughtcrime, but will settle for financial and legal ruination then ostracism.

The older I get the simpler and more apparent the truth becomes: collectivism is evil.

Good to know that Canucks may soon be able to discuss honestly about Muslims, gays, liberals, commies, etc....

Scary that HuffPo is so anti-free speech

Huffpo: `Speech for me, but not for thee.’

When they speak, it’s `taking a brave stand;’ but when we speak, it’s white racists and hate speech.

Read some of Steyn’s other stuff (cite provided above) on this issue if you want to see how frustrating it has been for him dealing with entrenched lefty ideological cant, prejudice and bigotry.

As far as I’m concerned the media is dead. I’ll pick up my bits and pieces of news off the internet where I can judge for myself. The American media either slants news or does not report anything against Liberals or Democrats. That’s both TV news and their web sites.

Ariana Huffington’s husband decided to be gay, rather than to be (argh) ‘joined’ to her.

That’s gotta hurt.
