This is no great surprise. The Hispanics in Phoenix, both legal and the remaining illegal, who have been there a while, tend to be very conservative, and are less than welcoming to ‘transient’ Mexicans.
This is because such transients are seen as being out to get whatever they can get before moving on, so are not people to trust or have dealings with. This is not unusual in that any people and place with a permanent community and lots of transients tends to look at them with suspicion.
Transient Mexicans in Arizona are seen as more dangerous by just about everyone, so the best advice to them is to keep moving on.

WHAT is no great surprise?? What does “conservative and less than welcoming” have to do with an assault? Since you posted in reply to the original thread and not someone else’s post, I don’t see anything here except a woman is assaulted and WHAT?? She should have been more welcoming? Confusing...
