I think it has very much to do with the fact that the pepsi is an inanimate object available to all peoples, and can actually be controlled by govt and dealt with objectively. Things that have to do with people, feelings, morals, etc., cannot/should not, be controlled or dealt with objectively.
Unless you're conservative - then there's no problem dealing with you VERY objectively.
