It hardly took another study for people to know that political polarization in this country is deeply embedded. Still, a report issued Monday, June 4, by the Pew Research Center paints a particularly stark portrait of a nation in which the most significant divisions are no longer based on race, class or sex but on political identity.

For 25 years, Pew has been conducting regular surveys assessing American values. They provide a series of historical benchmarks by which to examine the changes in what binds people and what divides them.

The latest report finds considerable continuity over that quarter-century in the way different groups view society -- and one very large change.

"Overall, there has been much more stability than change across the 48 political values measures that the Pew Research Center has tracked since 1987," the report states.

I see at least two factors at work here:

1. Democrat’s hold on power is contingent on dividing us into groups and pandering to each of the groups to garner favor and get votes. Their strategy has succeeded.

2. Republican’s decline in support for big government solutions is a result of seeing that the solutions DO NOT work, but make things worse and the cost to future generations is untenable.

I see two factors at work here:

1) A dim party that has its sole reason for existence... to mold America into a third rate world power dominated by marxism and sharia.

2) I see a gop/e that is trying to institute a softer, kinder, more gentle version of the dim party platform.

I do not want to live under either party's rule or under anything but GOD and our Constitution as guided by the Federalist papers.

The reason is clear to me. Anyone who supports a treasonous POS like Obama is either so dangerously stupid or way out there on the commie left themselves that they’re difficult if not impossible for most of us to tolerate.

Interesting. I believe it’s time to divide America into two countries. May not happen in my lifetime but I believe it will happen at some point. The gulf is just too wide between liberals and conservatives and it will only get worse.

Hilarious. Its just a coincidence that the democrat party has identified non-whites, the poor and women as victims of their political opponents.

What a ridiculous article.

Really; the Democrats drew the battle lines on race, gender, and class.

Ridiculous is right.

Whenever the tide turns against the Democrats, we get these articles about how politics is divisive, where’s the civility, get the money out of politics, everything’s too complicated, etc., etc.

When the tide is with the Democrats, they’re a steamroller. “We won.” “I don’t want to hear too much from the people who got us here.” Armed New Black Panthers menacing people outside polling places. “We have to pass the bill in order to find out what’s in it,” etc., etc.

I haven’t seen any senators cane each other in the senate lately.
