BROWNSVILLE, Texas (AP) — A 20-year-old native Texan says she's barred from re-entering the country after she denied, under grilling by the U.S. Border Patrol, that she was a U.S. citizen.

I remember an similar incident almost 60 year ago. My aunt took one of their kin to Juarez as she lived in El Paso. He was in his US military uniform.
On the way back into the US he decided to get smart with the border guards and when asked his nationality he said...”Japanese! I’m just wearing this uniform.”
They were held at the border for hours till they got it straightened out.

Probably for the same reason people confess to murders they couldn’t possibly have done after 8 hours of police interrogation.
Not necessarily. One can re-enter using a “PASS” card or “Enhanced Drivers License.”
Or a SENTRI card
I wonder how many of these people we’ve been reading about as of lately renouncing U.S. citizenship for whatever purposes, tax avoidance, etc, realize they lose their 2nd Ammendment rights when doing so. The 4473 that is required for purchases from a dealer has a question on it that specifically asks if an purchaser has ever renounced there citezenship. Any yes answers means you walk.....empty handed.

If she is lying (which I think is the most likely scenario, she should be barred entry. If she had “birthright citizenship”, she should be admitted. We go by the laws we have, not the ones we believe we should have.
BTW, the “McAllen hospital” story did not refer to this woman, but a man that some random lawyer, interviewed for the story, allegedly represented “several years ago”. I do suspect the reporter was trying to induce readers to incorrectly draw that conclusion, though.

You can still cross back into the US from Mexico with a birth certificate and drivers license. You will spend some time with your local Customs officer while they verify your identity. I had to do this 2 years ago when my son got his mother’s car stuck in Algodones Mexico. I didn’t have a passport at the time so I took my birth certificate with me. That along with my drivers license and retired military ID got me and my wife’s car back accross the border. I had to spend almost 3 hours at the port of entry while they verified everything. It ain’t fun but it can be done.
I stand corrected. I thought I had read somewhere that Texas had also implemented this program, but turns out they are still working on it.

Actually, not exactly true.
A few months back I discussed this with my son after my trip to Canada and asked him what would have happened if I left/lost my passport at the airport, or left it on the airplane, or dropped it after disembarking the aircraft and walking to the POE and found myself at the POE without one.
My son, a Border Patrol Agent, said US citizens may not be barred from entry into the US.
A valid passport makes the process simpler and easier. The citizen and the CBP officers working the POE have to do a few more steps to verify you are a citizen, but in the end you will be let back in.
Happens not all the time, but it happens, that a US citizen arrives at the border and can’t locate his passport.
Paperwork to follow, and no, the citizen doesn’t have to travel hundreds of miles to get to a US Embassy or consulate office for a replacement passport.
Oh, the story is odd and makes no sense.

Point of order, as I know your post denigrating the Border Patrol was done likely because you are unaware of who does what along the US border.
A search of the DHS website reveals an organizational chart. Download it (pdf). It shows “Customs and Border Protection (http://www.dhs.gov/xlibrary/assets/dhs-orgchart.pdf).
On this same org chart you will see a box labeled “Office of Field Operations.” This is organization within the blue uniformed Customs and Border Protection Officers (CBPO) reside. These are the guys that work the POEs.

The Border Patrol works BETWEEN the POEs.

As you can see, you are mistaken by calling out the BP.
The BP Agents are out in the field, working in harsh lands and taking down drug and human smugglers. They are doing dangerous work and risking their lives each day as they work alone, sometimes in pairs, as they take down groups of illegals. Business is brisk and has not slacked no matter what Nappy-Pants and The Messiah say.
My son, a Border Patrol Agent, was involved in a shoot (righteous shoot and cleared). In the case of Agent Brian Terry, he was not so lucky. BP Agents Ramos and Compean were screwed by the feds (http://ramos-compean.blogspot.com/).
So, the Boys in Green (BP) take enough crap from the weenies in Wash DC. They don’t need to take crap for stuff they didn’t do.

The newspaper in the first paragraph says Border Patrol pulled her but then in the next paragraph the newspaper says CBP officers. Sheesh, the newspaper can’t be bothered to get the facts correct—simple facts, like who is alleged to have done this. Gawd, the MSM are so awful.
Sounds like there may be a gender disconnect between the birth certificate and the body. Post surgical? ESL?
There must be many illegals entering the US by using the plentiful array of false documents. I have noticed over the years that you rarely see women walking through the desert on foot. So how are all of these illegal alien moms coming into the country to have their anchor babies? Since there are millions of fake documents both in Mexico and in the US, it seems plausible that using fake documents would be an easy way to just walk or drive into the US. Has anyone heard of the widespread usage of fake documents to enter the US?
Speaking of ending birthright citizenship, what was the state that brought this question to the courts and does anyone know what became of it.
