He claims, "Homosexuals make up less than 2% of the American population..." I don't know. I have heard 10% (don't have a link). At any rate, it's amazing that such a small minority of our population can have such a large affect.
Here's why:
At least in the beginning, we are seeking public desensitization and nothing more. We do not need and cannot expect a full "appreciation" or "understanding" of homosexuality from the average American. You can forget about trying to persuade the masses that homosexuality is a good thing. But if only you can get them to think that it is just another thing, with a shrug of their shoulders, then your battle for legal and social rights is virtually won. And to get to shoulder-shrug stage, gays as a class must cease to appear mysterious, alien, loathsome and contrary. A large-scale media campaign will be required in order to change the image of gays in America.
There was a study posted here at FR I think about 4 months ago that reported that the LGBT population in the U.S. was about 3.5%. The study was done by a gay demographer from California, if I remember correctly. The 10% number is made up to make it seem like there are a lot more of them than there really are. The 10% number comes from the Kinsey Reports.
Homosexuality is comprised of between 1% to 3% of the population. The homosexual advocates boost the percentage by lumping into their numbers bisexual individuals (hedonism), transgender individuals, and individuals who are sexually confused. They do this because a percentage of between 1% to 3% falls in the category of being abnormal.
UpChuck - your 10% number is a sad commentary .... MANY bought into this scam, which 9as others have already said) came from (gay) researcher Kinsey, who said 10% of HIS RESEARCH SUBJECTS were gay. The gay crowd immediately jumped on this and openly spoke about selling this to the world both to boost political power and make gays feel less ... ‘odd’.
The best information comes from the U.S. Center for Disease Control, whose survey encouraged truth telling because it was about health, not lifestyle. The result:
about 2.3% of males are gay
about 1.7% of females are gay
The Canadian government did a similar study and came up with slightly lower percentages.
Even in San Francisco the numbers are astounding (only 10% of the city population).
Despite this tiny sliver of the population, gays are WAY over-represented in:
pedophilia
violence
infidelity
drugs/alcohol
inability to sustain relationships
STDs (approx 50% of all new AIDS cases in America are in gay men)
suicide, depression
greatly reduced lifespan
Sad - and maybe God’s attempt to get the attention of these lost souls, though they seem pretty immune to grace.
