I side with those Americans who chose to rebel against the King of England in pursuit of their freedom. You side with those who remained loyal to King George III, and who were content to remain his subjects.
The rest of the history lesson is extraneous. One either did, or did not, make a principled stand at that time.
When I called out another poster for being a “Loyalist”, I was referring to the fact that they appear to willing to lay aside whatever conservative principles they might have, in order to elect someone who sports an R on their blazer, but essentially plays for the other side.
That is all.

I was appalled when I found out my ancestors had been Loyalists...
until I studied up on exactly why they would be...
Besides their swore loyalty to England the country that saved their Huguenot family from dying in France..
But loyalists were the Conservatives of their day...
and many of them became Loyalists because they just wanted to farm and feed their children and were forced into choosing by rebels who attacked them and wouldnt let them be...
Like a Loyalist said when asked about the tyrant King George...
